El Bosco, from the Spanish term “El Bosque” meaning “forest” harkens back to owners Marcela Geer and Ismael Castro’s upbringings in their lush-and-leafy hometowns in Colombia and Mexico, respectively, and is the heart of their vision for El Bosco, signifying fresh, earthy and natural abundance with an exotic Latin flair. Combined, owners Marcela and Ismael bring more than 30 years of hospitality experience to your event. Meet the exuberant personalities behind Toronto’s most exciting new catering service:

Marcela Geer

Owner & Director of Operations

After a decade of working in finance, Marcela made the decision to leave her corporate career to pursue her passion for culinary event planning and management, but she’s no stranger to the hospitality business. Marcela’s affinity for food and hosting dates back to her arrival from Colombia to Canada at a very young age when her family ventured into the restaurant business, wanting to bring authentic Latin cuisine to their London, Ontario community. The restaurant was a success and at just 14, Marcela was fully-emerged in all sides of the family-owned business. She later relocated to Toronto to expand her knowledge and earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Ryerson University. She went on to spend 15 years in the restaurant and bar industry in Toronto, bartending, serving and finally managing.

Marcela’s finance-meets-hospitality background forms the quintessential skill set to head up events and management for El Bosco. Clients describe working with Marcela as a true collaboration and that she’s responsive, personal, meticulous and attentive, always putting clients first and going above and beyond for each individual client’s needs.

Ismael Castro

Owner & Executive Chef

Hailing from Mexico, Ismael Castro was raised by the ultimate culinary role model, his mother.

Memories of scouring local Mexican markets with his mother in search of the best-quality ingredients are among his fondest childhood memories but they also taught him how to source the finest caliber of produce and meats available, a tradition that lives on in his shopping and cooking practices today.

Ismael moved to Toronto, Canada in 2002 and immediately immersed himself in the city’s bustling food scene. From bartending, restaurant and bar management to catering, Ismael has had the opportunity to work in some of Toronto’s most popular hot spots.

His lifelong penchant for his native dishes has made Ismael a bonafide connoisseur of traditional Mexican cuisine. His undeniable warmth, positivity and charisma have opened many doors in both his personal and professional life. From the moment you sit down to merely discuss food with Ismael, his fervent enthusiasm is evident and infectious.

He believes that clear and attentive communication with clients is the absolute underpinning to a successful event, whether it’s a small dinner party or a lavish wedding.
