El Bosco, from the Spanish term “El Bosque” meaning “forest” harkens back to owners Marcela Geer and Ismael Castro’s upbringings in their lush-and-leafy hometowns in Colombia and Mexico, respectively, and is the heart of their vision for El Bosco, signifying fresh, earthy and natural abundance with an exotic Latin flair. Combined, owners Marcela and Ismael bring more than 30 years of hospitality experience to your event. Meet the exuberant personalities behind Toronto’s most exciting new catering service:
Owner & Director of Operations
After a decade of working in finance, Marcela made the decision to leave her corporate career to pursue her passion for culinary event planning and management, but she’s no stranger to the hospitality business. Marcela’s affinity for food and hosting dates back to her arrival from Colombia to Canada at a very young age when her family ventured into the restaurant business, wanting to bring authentic Latin cuisine to their London, Ontario community. The restaurant was a success and at just 14, Marcela was fully-emerged in all sides of the family-owned business. She later relocated to Toronto to expand her knowledge and earned a Bachelor of Commerce in Hospitality and Tourism Management from Ryerson University. She went on to spend 15 years in the restaurant and bar industry in Toronto, bartending, serving and finally managing.
Marcela’s finance-meets-hospitality background forms the quintessential skill set to head up events and management for El Bosco. Clients describe working with Marcela as a true collaboration and that she’s responsive, personal, meticulous and attentive, always putting clients first and going above and beyond for each individual client’s needs.
